David is a practice-based PhD researcher at Ulster University, where his doctoral research, The Empathetic Gaze: The Visual Languages of Empathy, explores the intricate relationship between looking and the visual communication of emotion. Completing his Master’s of Fine Art in Photography with distinction in 2020, following his achievement of a First-Class Honours degree in Photography from Ulster University in 2017. His photographic art practice is situated at the intersection of conceptual and documentary methodologies, investigating states of mind, notions of place, and the physical and psychological boundaries that hold us in-between. Balancing both commissioned and personal projects, his work aims to engage with the complexities of human perception and emotional connection.
His work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions and is held in public and private collections.
